Post 14

Our family has found pleasure in giving back to the south Charlotte community through volunteering at the Second Harvest Food Pantry at Pineville Church of the Nazarene for the last several years.  Our second son, JJ, began the family legacy helping to unload and stock the groceries and assist customers who were shopping for their families.  Keivon, our third son, continued the tradition and worked diligently for two years doing the same jobs to assist the families in need until his school schedule changed this past fall.  My wife, Chrystal, worked along side the boys, and continues to solicit corporate sponsorships and donations.

The report for the last week in October was that 32 families were served during the first of two emergency grocery days before the doors had to be locked to allow the volunteers to leave to meet their shopping appointment at Second Harvest Food Bank, the main warehouse of supplies.  This is three times the usual need we experience.  All these families are truly in need, having been qualified through agencies and assigned a social worker to help them navigatge their emergency.  What we are also seeing is that there are some families in a chronic state of emergency, as well.

Further complications were that because of the recovery efforts to assist victims of Hurricane Ike, our usual supply of grocery items for the food bank were diverted to Texas.

Persian Rug House of Pineville partnered with Pineville Church of the Nazarene for the month of November, the launch of our 25th Year in Business, to contribute $25 to the food pantry for every rug sold.  This will allow the pantry volunteers to purchase much needed grocery and other goods to benefit the seniors, families, and children who depend on the local food pantry for their regular grocery needs.

Thank you for your business and in your partnership in helping feed the hungry.  There is still need.  Mention this BlogNews post and we will be happy to contribute $25 to the food pantry from your purchase, in addition to thanking you with 50% off the regular price of your purchase.  If you don't currently need a rug, but you'd like to contribute, don't hesitate to call me and I will tell you where to send your check.

Sincere thanks for your support of our family here at Persian Rug House of Pineville, and of families in need,
